Dílo je stejně jako Prostor, abstrakce 4 součástí širšího cyklu Předobrazy, prostor, abstrakce (2011), v němž autor tematizuje vztah prostoru a abstrakce v rámci samotného fotografického média. Fotografie zde nefunguje jako dokumentární záznam, ale jako konstruovaný obrazový objekt, jehož význam vzniká z napětí mezi plochou a iluzí hloubky. Práce zároveň odkazuje k analytické metodě Otto Gutfreunda a jeho kubistickým plastikám (Milenci, 1913–1914). Transpozicí kubistického principu do oblasti fotografie Thýn dokládá, že postupy historické avantgardy lze dále rozvíjet a reinterpretovat. Zájem o abstraktní umění jej přivedl k formulaci konceptu „nenarativní“ fotografie, která zdůrazňuje autonomii obrazu a jeho strukturální organizaci.

Like Space, Abstraction 4, this work is part of the broader series Archetypes, Space, Abstraction (2011), in which the artist explores the relationship between space and abstraction within the photographic medium itself. The photograph does not work as a documentary record in this case, but as a constructed visual object whose meaning arises from the tension between the flat surface and the illusion of depth. The work also refers to Otto Gutfreund’s analytical method and his Cubist sculptures (Lovers, 1913–1914). By transposing the Cubist principle into the realm of photography, Thýn demonstrates that the methods of the historical avant-garde can be further developed and reinterpreted. His interest in abstract art led him to formulate the concept of “non-narrative” photography which emphasises the autonomy of the image and its structural organisation.
