Iren Stehli: Libuna and Other Essays

As its contribution to this year’s autumn festival organized annually on specific themes by the magazine Fotograf, GHMP is staging an exhibition of the Swiss photographer, Irene Stehli, who spent three decades documenting the life of Libuna, a member of Prague’s Roma community. Irene Stehli studied at the Film Academy in Prague, and has spent much of her time in this country. Since the inception of her career, her work has been centered around the production of comprehensive photographic essays focused on particular people and milieus observed through extensive periods of time, an approach resembling the “time-collecting” method used by some film documentarists.
