The art workshops bring, as part as our focus on integration programmes, an enriching cooperation with Ukrainian artist Olga Ivanova who will introduce the participants in the workshops to the traditional creation of Ukrainian dolls, the so-called motanka dolls. Such a souvenir, especially when it is made with your own hands, can become a family heirloom. This amulet maintains ancient tradition, family know-how, and beliefs. Motanka belongs to the folk art of Ukraine and serves as a symbol connecting generations. Dating back to as far as 5,000 years ago, it is one of the oldest ritual objects from the territory of Ukraine. It takes the form of a cloth doll and is a symbol for fulfilling personal and family wishes. It can become a private amulet, a gift or even a unique work of art.

This programme is designed not only for adults and seniors, but also for their children and grandchildren as part of an intergenerational encounter. The workshops are also open to foreign visitors.

This activity is implemented with the financial support of UNHCR (The UN Refugee Agency) and the Ministry of Interior of the Czech Republic.
