Educational Videos → Jiří Sopko
The GHMP has prepared a new series of educational videos – educational tutorials – for families with children, pupils, students, teachers and other age groups. These are step-by-step guides to interesting art projects and workshops inspired primarily by selected works from the GHMP collections, including its permanent exhibitions, long-term exhibitions, objects and the collection of public sculptures. Through these videos, people can learn more about the GHMP collections and discover some new art techniques, processes and methods. The tutorials are organised along three thematic lines, based on inspirational ideas and starting points: the distinctive styles and techniques of notable artists, artistic themes, and art theory (such as colour theory and various means of expression). These videos can effectively support and enrich both distance and traditional learning, or simply entertain children during their free time.
Jiří Sopko – Educational Tutorial
Inspired by works from the GHMP collectionsThis educational video introduces the work of the prominent Czech painter Jiří Sopko, focusing on his approach to using bold colours and exploring other aspects of his distinctive style – such as reduction and simplification of forms, playfulness, humour and hyperbole. Works from the GHMP collections have been selected as examples. The video also provides a more detailed explanation of colour theory, covering topics such as primary and complementary/contrasting colours, followed by instructions for creating your own artwork inspired by the combination of complementary colours. This involves making colourful images using objects from around you. All of these activities can be easily done at home using readily available materials and tools.
