Saturday Art Workshop: Intermedia Experiments / to the Pavel Jasanský exhibition

Through art workshops, we will provide visitors with an interactive introduction to the first extensive retrospective exhibition of the photographer, graphic designer and artist Pavel Jasanský. We will draw inspiration from an exploration of his multifaceted work, which includes photography (documentary and portrait), painting, sculpture, video and intermedia. During individual interactions with the works and their subsequent interpretation and discussion, we will confront and compare the diverse perspectives of programme participants on each specific work and series of photographs. As part of our artistic responses, we will use mixed-media and experimental techniques such as painting in combination with photography / colouring black-and-white photographs with watercolours and ink, photo collages as well as graphic techniques such as paper printing, blind printing, etc. We will also draw inspiration from the artist’s graphic work to create designs for record covers and posters in the form of photographic collages, also in combination with simple relief printing. As part of our exploration of new media, we will try our hand at creating so-called “video sculptures” – multimedia works in which we will project Jasanský’s photographs onto objects and create short videos.

The workshops will develop visual, information and media literacy and promote creative and critical thinking.
