Saturday Art Workshop: Portraiture in Fashion, Film and Advertising Photography / for the Bruce Weber: My Education exhibition

During the workshop, we will use the photography studio facilities at the Education Centre of the GHMP, where participants will be able to try out the role of a model. Through photo styling, they will be able to be shot in the style of a professional photographer’s fashion, film, portrait or lifestyle photographs. The inspiration for each photo shoot will be specific photographs by Bruce Weber or free paraphrases of them. Professional styling and props will be provided. Thanks to instant photo post-production, we will also work with keying options using a green screen background. There will also be a self-service photo booth, for your own personal photo shoots. Visitors will also be able to edit their own photos on iPads using the appropriate apps. They will then be able to set the photo in post-production as it would look on the cover of a fashion magazine or on a poster. We will use reproductions of photographs from the exhibition as well as clippings from newspapers, magazines and promotional materials about art and design. Using collage and a combination of image and text, we will attempt to design a film or an advertising poster.
