A four-hour durational performance taking place in František Bílek’s studio. With a 20 minute break in the middle. The audience is free to come and go as they please within the timeframe. Markéta will work towards embodying Bílek’s sculptures. Meditating in an oscillation between hope and despair, between life and lifelessness, between knowing and seeing… She will dance and weave in between the sculptures; at points finding moments of stillness and likeness with the surroundings, at other times acting in opposition, generating full and fluid movements.
Markéta Fagan is a performance artist who utilizes improvisational dance, flow state, and stream of consciousness writing as a submarine to get into the deeper crevices of the mind. Instinct, spirituality, bodily intelligence, psychology and philosophy drive her practice. Markéta has premiered original work in galleries, theatres, and festivals around Europe and the United States. She has worked commercially for brands such as Apple TV+, Nike, Spotify and danced for musical artists such as Fred Again, Jorja Smith, and Jamie xx. Markéta graduated from London Contemporary Dance School in 2023 where she was awarded a MA degree in Expanded Dance Practice. She is currently based in Prague, working as a freelance artist, and teaching flow state workshops, cultivating community of like minded, free thinking movers.
