Art workshop for adults and seniors / integration and intergenerational programme: Camera Obscura I / for the exhibition Karel Otto Hrubý

The photography workshops will respond to Hrubý’s work and the exhibited sets of his photographs. The first series of workshops entitled Camera Obscura will focus on the predecessor of the camera, the so-called camera obscura. The principles of imaging with a simple optical device will be explored in group work directly on the streets of Prague, where participants will take pictures using a pinhole camera. We will then move to the facilities of the Education Centre, where we will work in the darkroom environment and develop negatives on paper. The workshop will be held in cooperation with Lubor Houška, who has many years of experience in this field. He will offer the workshop participants his rich photographic knowledge.

The art workshops entitled The Black-and-White Positive and its Negative will be a continuation of the series of workshops that focused on the camera obscura. During the workshops, we will work with the enlarger and get acquainted with its technical parameters. We will focus on the process of making a positive image by projecting black-and-white negatives onto photographic paper. We will thus experience the atmosphere of a darkroom and work with a developer and a fixer. Under the red light, we will watch the photographic dishes as the familiar outlines of a realistic image begin to appear.

 

This programme is designed not only for adults and seniors, but also for their children and grandchildren as part of an intergenerational encounter. The workshops are also open to foreign visitors.
