These art workshops will be based on the exhibition at the Bílek Villa in Prague which presents the important work of František Bílek inspired by the literary work of Otokar Březina. At the opening session for the interactive workshops, entitled Drawing Workshop and taking place in the Bílek Villa exhibition in Prague’s Hradčany district, participants will learn through drawing about František Bílek’s major works and become acquainted with his studio space.

Follow-up workshops entitled Book Binding, Frottage, and Prints will be held in the studio of the GHMP’s Educational Centre. We will get acquainted with the extensive work of František Bílek and will focus on the artist’s relationship to bookbinding and on selected motifs of the artist which we will apply during the creative process. In the art workshop, we will work with stencils and apply acrylic paint to paper using the technique of dabbing or the art process of frottage. We will then use the resulting artwork as an original cover for a book binding, where we will try out traditional bookbinding techniques such as saddle stitch. The individual components (soft cover and textblock) will be fastened together using a simple sewing procedure. The end result will be a creative journal, sketchbook, notebook, or scrapbook

This programme is designed not only for adults and seniors, but also for their children and grandchildren as part of an intergenerational encounter. The workshops are also open to foreign visitors.
