The Auschwitz Album

An exhibition organized in association with the Jewish Museum in Prague presents the complete series of close to 200 photographs making up the so-called Auschwitz Album, a unique document dating from 1944, capturing the systematic Nazi extermination of European Jews.

Though most of the photos show citizens of the prewar Czechoslovakia´s province of Subcarpathian Ruthenia, this collection has not been previously shown in this country. The exhibition also comments on the album´s origin, its discovery by Auschwitz inmate Lili Jacob, and its postwar history, including the important parts played in it by the City of Prague, and the Jewish Museum in Prague.
