Andreas Groll (1812–1872): Unknown Photographer

This exhibition will provide the first complex overview of the works by the Austrian photographer, Andreas Groll (1812–1872), who is significant for the history of Czech photography as the author of the first series of pictures of Prague, Plzeň and Kutná Hora. He worked several times in the Bohemian Kingdom, provably in 1856 and 1865 (although some of his shots are also dated 1855 and 1866), and, in the 1860s, again photographed Prague and Kutná Hora and then also the cities of Kolín, Rožmberk and Lednice. His are often the earliest images ever taken of the given sites.
