The art workshops will provide a space where participants can use their chosen techniques to explore the world of doppelgangers, their alter egos, their own identities and hidden reflections that can manifest themselves in images. The focus of the creative work will be on watercolour painting techniques. Water here symbolises transformation and also acts as a mirror that both reveals and deceives. We will draw inspiration from the myth of Narcissus as well as artistic interpretations of reflections in landscapes – from romantic paintings to contemporary works. During our work, we will observe how the image dissolves in water and loses its contours – just like our perception of ourselves. Using watercolours, we will aim to find a balance between control and randomness, colour and water, reflection and dissolution. Inspiration may come from our own photographs, but also from colours, symbols and moods that reflect the artist’s personality.
This programme is designed not only for adults and seniors, but also for their children and grandchildren as part of an intergenerational encounter. The workshops are also open to foreign visitors.
This activity is implemented with the financial support of UNHCR (The UN Refugee Agency) and the Ministry of Interior of the Czech Republic.
