Saturday Art Workshop: Reflections, Shadows and Echoes / to the Double exhibition

During the Saturday workshops, we will attempt to create experimental portraits and self-portraits using watercolour and acrylic painting, drawing, collage and unconventional techniques. We will also explore the integration of text—incorporating personal thoughts, favourite excerpts from books and music, quotes, values, symbols and codes that define and express us. The workshops will also focus on themes of mirroring and shadows. Participants will capture their own shadows using data projector projections or draw silhouettes of bodies on large-format paper and redraw their own self-portraits on transparent foil using a mirror, etc. Additionally, we will experiment with photo styling and digital media, including virtual reality tools where participants will design their own “avatars” across various applications on iPads, smartphones and other devices. The workshops will develop visual, communication and digital literacy while fostering creative and critical thinking.
