Bílek was a master of ex libris – small graphic bookplates that combined symbols, images, personal stories and artistic stylisation. Participants will learn what motifs he used in his ex libris, how he worked with signs, biblical references and natural elements and why he regarded books as sacred objects. Everyone will then create their own bookplate design, either in the form of a drawn monogram or a small print which they can take home with them. The workshop is also suitable for beginners and includes a short demonstration of how to think about symbols, simple compositions and the meaning of personal marks.
