Poster Design Workshop

Art Nouveau and Symbolism brought a new perspective on the poster as an autonomous work of art, where image, typography and meaning intertwine in a unified visual language. František Bílek moved between both movements – his work features bold lines, stylised figures, ornamentation and profound spiritual content. During the workshop, participants will learn the basic principles of Art Nouveau and Symbolist poster design, including composition, vertical format, symbolism and hand-drawn typeface. Based on these principles, they will create their own original poster inspired by Bílek’s artistic language – whether for a fictional event, text or idea. The workshop emphasises the search for personal expression, working with the meaning of the image, and connecting text with visual structure, rather than perfect graphic technique, and is therefore suitable for beginners as well.
