Bookmaking Workshop

František Bílek approached the book as a whole: he gave the cover, illustrations, typography and materials a unified symbolic form. His book graphics are typical of strong lines, bold diagonals, and the interconnection of text and image. In this workshop, participants will try their hand at creating a small artist’s book – a notebook, a fold-out or a pop-up book – inspired by Bílek’s approach to illustration. They will discover how a book concept is born, how to connect text with images, and how to work simply with format, page rhythm and expressive lines. The workshop focuses on creativity and experimentation, not technical bookbinding, so it is suitable even for complete beginners.
