These art workshops reflect the collaboration of the Education Department of GHMP with the Botanical Garden of the City of Prague. The resulting works from the creative workshops will be designed for an artistic installation at the entrance to the tropical butterfly exhibition at the Botanical Garden’s Fata Morgana greenhouse. Through workshops called Butterfly Time in a Spatial Project, we will focus on the motifs of different butterfly species and on the related themes they represent: lightness, mobility, fragility, and airiness. The art activity will focus on working with paper, textile material, modelling wires, and on creating objects in the shape of butterfly wings; we will apply principles of montage while experimenting with artistic disciplines such as collage and related techniques. By focusing on creating butterfly-shaped models and on their visual aspect in terms of colour and variety, participants will find inspiration in the unique pigmentation and patterns of butterfly wings. The art workshops will also introduce the work of selected artists whose works are present in GHMP’s collections and are related to the theme of butterflies (e.g. Vladimír Boudník, Václav Boštík, Alén Diviš, Jiří John, Naděžda Plíšková, Lev Šimák, and Max Švabinský).
This programme is designed not only for adults and seniors, but also for their children and grandchildren as part of an intergenerational encounter. The workshops are also open to foreign visitors.
This activity is implemented with the financial support of UNHCR (The UN Refugee Agency) and the Ministry of Interior of the Czech Republic.
