How does our daily bread shape landscapes (deeply) near and far? This creative two-part workshop explores the relationship between human prosperity and planetary prosperity, with a special focus on the connections between food systems and planetary ecosystems.
In our current geological epoch, the Anthropocene, the global food system – especially the industrial model – is what fundamentally shapes humanity’s relationship to the planet. Among the most visible examples of this impact are climate change and the sixth mass extinction of species. Furthermore, food regimes reflect and shape our social systems – the ways in which humans relate to themselves and to other people.
How can we understand and influence these numerous interconnections in order to move toward regenerative, just and healthy agricultural/cultural systems?
These topics will be addressed in the first part of the workshop, which is organised as an open and informal roundtable discussion with an invited expert in the fields of agro-ecology/environmental science and nature conservation. This discussion will be followed by a joint drawing session, using edible paints on a large tablecloth, aimed at visualising the thoughts, ideas and feelings that emerged during the discussion.
The workshop is open to all age groups (children are welcome when accompanied by their parents) and requires no prior knowledge or experience.
