During the week of 13-19 July 2026 (1-6 p.m.) you can visit all the buildings and exhibitions of the GHMP and take part in workshops responding to the current exhibitions, permanent exhibitions and buildings of Prague City Gallery.

Mon 13 July 2026, 1-6 p.m.
Education Centre, GHMP Colloredo-Mansfeld
GHMP Colloredo-Mansfeld and Statues on Charles Bridge (collection of public sculptures, GHMP)

During the workshop, we will introduce the Colloredo-Mansfeld Palace, one of Prague’s most fascinating and significant Baroque and Rococo structures, through video and photo projections. We will respond in an artistic way to the inspiring details of the palace’s architecture, which is permeated by many building styles (interpretation of the space, putting finishing touches to reproductions of local Baroque-Rococo ornaments and marble decorations). Further inspiration will come from the nearby Charles Bridge and its statues, which are in the care of the GHMP. The workshop will include putting finishing touches to reproductions of the statues (changing contexts, setting them into a new environment, adding contemporary attributes, finding parallels to the present and playing with details). Educational sheets on Charles Bridge will also be available to serve as a guide to the bridge for families with children.

Tue 14 July 2026, 1-6 p.m.
GHMP Zámek Troja, Eco-studio in the Orangery
Labyrinth: Wandering Within

The art workshop will be conducted in the style of an open studio, drawing on both the form and content of the current exhibition Labyrinth: Wandering Within The exhibition uses the motif of a maze as a metaphor for human thought and life’s journey, during which one encounters fear, uncertainty and responsibility for one’s actions. Together, we will create original travel diaries suitable not just for summer journeys We will use recycled materials – paper, old newspapers, flyers and discarded books – and explore how to give new meaning to seemingly ordinary objects. The workshop will also include making personal talismans from fabric scraps, beads and other small materials, which can serve as symbolic guides on both real and inner journeys. The workshop offers space for creativity, playfulness and sharing and is open to everyone regardless of prior experience with visual arts.

Wed 15 July 2026, 1-6 p.m.

Headless Rider
Bolf Mančuška Šerých Vaněk

The creative session at the Stone Bell House will tie in with the exhibition The Headless Rider which showcases the work of the art group of the same name, whose members included Josef Bolf, Ján Mančuška, Jan Šerých and Tomáš Vaněk. Together, we’ll immerse ourselves in the atmosphere of the 1990s – a period full of freedom, uncertainty, experimentation and newly discovered possibilities. We’ll draw inspiration not only from the artists’ works themselves but also from their approach to creating art, based on improvisation, collaboration, irony and playful rule-breaking. The workshop will offer space for two-dimensional and three-dimensional creation, as well as work with collage, objects and installations. We’ll combine seemingly disparate materials, recycle paper, old magazines and small found objects, and explore DIY aesthetics and principles. In the spirit of Dadaist experiments, we’ll let chance and intuition guide us and explore how new stories can emerge from ordinary materials.

Expanding Our Collection: Acquisitions 2013–2025

As part of this art workshop, we’ll offer visitors an interactive and creative way to experience an exhibition focused on GHMP’s extensive acquisitions between 2013 and 2025, during which the gallery added 2,366 works to its collection. We will draw inspiration from the works of many prominent artists, to which we will respond through our own creative work. We’ll encounter Jan Příhoda’s whales, Zdeněk Sýkora’s lines, Ivan Kafka’s arrows and a return, with Adéla Babánová, to the dream of a Czechoslovak sea. The workshop will offer opportunities for two-dimensional and three-dimensional art, painting, drawing, collage and installation art. The emphasis will be on playfulness, free expression and an active engagement with art, rather than on prior experience or artistic skills.

Fri 17 July 2026, 1-6 p.m.

The Second Fire: Love Letter to Baikal

As part of the workshop, we will draw inspiration from an exhibition dedicated to Lake Baikal, the world’s oldest and deepest lake, which holds more than 20% of the world’s fresh water. During their stay of almost a year in Siberia, artists Gabriela Bulišová and Mark Isaac created a project mapping the unique beauty of Lake Baikal as well as the threats it faces from pollution and climate change. Together, we’ll delve into creative art techniques and follow in the footsteps of the stories, legends and mythological creatures that still permeate the landscape of Lake Baikal and the lives of its inhabitants. We’ll create collages, experimental drawings and personal love letters inspired by the local landscape. The art workshop will support the development of visual literacy, sensory perception and the capacity for personal reflection, and offer space for participants’ own creative responses to the exhibition’s themes within the context of contemporary art.

Sat 18 July 2026, 1-6 p.m.
GHMP Bílkův dům
Long-term exhibition

During the workshop, we will respond to the unique building that is Bílek’s house in Chýnov (the so-called Chaloupka or “Cottage”). We will draw the sculptures and their details that were important to Bílek (hands, eyes, facial expressions and drapery).  We will design the decoration of ceramic vases based on the artist’s models. We will also try our hand at designing sculptures inspired by different tree shapes and at creating so-called “living sculptures”.  We will also incorporate in our work the distinctive typeface of František Bílek (1872-1941), who combined elements of Art Nouveau, Symbolism, Decadence and Expressionism in his work.

Sun 19 July 2026, 1-6 p.m.
GHMP Bílkova vila
František Bílekʼs Studio

During the workshop, we will be inspired by the work of the artist František Bílek (1872-1941) – sculptor, graphic artist, illustrator, creator of applied art and partly also an architect, who combined elements of Art Nouveau, Symbolism, Decadence and Expressionism in his work. Through drawings and collages, we will apply symbols and natural motifs appearing in his work in combination with his original rendering of typeface, with an overlap into artistic experimentation.  During the workshop, participants will get acquainted with the unique environment of Bílek’s villa at Hradčany and the exhibition dedicated to the work of this visionary, mystic, esoteric, religious thinker and, above all, artist.

Art materials will be available on site. You can come and go anytime between 1 pm and 6 pm. Workshops do not build on one another – it is up to you how many you attend. Booking is not necessary.

The events will be conducted by the educators of Prague City Gallery, Jolana Lažová and Tereza Kloučková.
