Prague City Gallery presents works by a Czech artist who has adopted a rather provocative pseudonym, Sráč Sam. Her oeuvre to date encompasses most various forms – from architectural realizations to objects, textile, painting and film and, finally, socially engaged projects. It is based on the critique of artificial social frameworks and on re-evaluating language, visual and social patterns which depart from power stimuli and the sum of which subsequently results in the concept “culture”.
Sráč Sam (*1969) lives and works in the city of Česká Bříza where she established the sam83 gallery and the heARTbreaker residential center. She also publishes the independent magazine PIŽMO. She has hitherto published the texts Vanda (2011), Kuniba Likes Things Three Times (2011) and My Husband’s Fear (2017) in book form.
