Roundway, 2010

Dům U Zlatého prstenu /The Golden Ring/
(Upcoming exhibition) 09/09 - 10/10, 2010
Tue – Sun 10.00 a.m. – 6.00 p.m.

Roundway: This is a video installation, which deals with the question of drive, endless repeating and persistence. In a video-loop, a runner circulates in a night-setting around the camera, keeping a stable distance from it. He therefore also, allegorically, runs around the beholder, who finds himself in the middle of an imaginary circle. He becomes a part of the run, accumulation. The installation is primarily based on sound experience: when the runner disappears from the shot, we can perceive the sound of the run, which takes place behind us. Afterwards, the sound completes the situation of the runner reappearing on the other side of the shot...

Cycle START-UP

START-UP is a new exhibition cycle at the City Gallery Prague (GHMP) focussing on young artists that are just starting their careers. The CGP has decided to use the monumental hall space of the former cloakroom in the ground floor of The Golden Ring for varying events starting with authors who should be boosted by the exposition.
In its fifteen-month course so far, the project has encompassed ten exhibitions (Jakub Janovský, Jakub Lipavský, Tomáš Džadoň, Adam Vačkář, Nikola Čulík, Adéla Babanová, Dragana Živanović, Alice Nikitinová, Markéta Hlinovská and Dana Sahánková).
Exhibitions from the cycle on the ground floor are free of charge.

The Golden Ring

Enlarge The current complicated layout of the Golden Ring House arose from the constructional unification of two separate medieval houses. The cellars and the corridor on the first floor with the original barrel vault are preserved from the early Gothic period of building development. In this corridor there are also fragments of wall paintings from the end of the 15th century. >>>
